The Monaco Athletics Fédération (F.M.A.) came to birth during the spring of 1984, created from an idea of its President S.A.S Hereditary Prince Albert.
The inauguration of the new stadium Louis II hosted an International Match between France – USA – RFA – Italy in May 1985, followed by a France – Spain – Poland – Italy in July 1986.
On September 19th, 1987 the F.M.A decided to organize on the track of the stadium Louis II the first edition of the International Meet of Athletics HERCULIS…
For the celebration of the 700 years of the Grimaldi, the F.M.A. decided in 1997 to organize the MARATHON DE MONACO ET DES RIVIERA, a race which went across 3 different countries, that made it unique in the world. The marathon went between the sea and the mountain, and crossed the principality of Monaco, France and Italy.
In 2011 and after 13 editions, the marathon transformed in a new event dedicated to road races, called the “MONACO RUN”.
